God is Certain

James 1:5-9
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

I’ve spent a lot of time in airports. I’ve been in big airports, small airports, airports in the states where I’m from, and plenty over seas. There’s something similar about them all. Every person you cross is dealing with uncertainty. Are they on time, where is their gate, did they bring everything they wanted, and everything else we all stress and ponder during such times.

In my life I’ve felt plenty of uncertainty, but with God we have wisdom and guidance to light our way. I am heading these verses in James though. See I stress before my flights like anyone else. For me though all my worry fades once I sit at my gate. Then I know I’ll be ok. All Christians including myself can take refuge in the fact that we found our gate. We are sitting at the gate safe and sound. The worries of this world don’t matter to us anymore because our minds are set on things beyond the flesh.

That brings me to my worry. In all things, but one… I can confidently say I trust in the Lord and fear not what the future holds. There is one thing that I struggle with. I can’t help but feel if we do not trust God with everything, we can then trust him with nothing. I do not want to be double minded. I do not want the angry seas of life to toss me away from the Lord and His peace. I pray for myself and my readers that we remember who we serve. The God of Abraham is our God. He sent his son not to condemn us, but to show us love and grace. Christ sacrifice and the gift of God’s spirit that lives in us is living proof we are truly God’s children. I pray these fleshly worries leave our minds. Let our thoughts be set on furthering God’s kingdom in ourselves and others. Let us trust God even when uncertainty hits. Let us not be afraid to seek his guidance and let us not fear his answer. Let us have the faith to walk on water and keep our eyes fixed on the savior. God you are certain, your love, your peace, and your mercy. Let nothing else matter for me, and these few readers my Lord. Amen
